John Quilligan

Ph.D., Dip. Ed., MRACI, C.Chem. (Chartered Chemist), MAICD 


John started his career as a Senior Research Scientist for a subsidiary of the Commonwealth Serum Laboratories (Coselco Mimotopes) working on a feasibility study for electrochemical detection of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV).

Following this experience in biomedicine, John joined the Shell Company of Australia Limited and, over a career of 16 years with Shell, held research, commercial and governance positions in Australia, Europe and Asia including Commercial Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) Manager for Oceania and Asia-Pacific/Middle East (APME).

John has wide experience in management teams (national, regional and global) and maintains a passion for contributing to improvement in governance in companies across the APME region. He has delivered numerous guest lectures at universities in Australia on aspects of corporate governance and is a well known conference speaker.

John has served as a member of the Board of Directors of a Shell Australia joint venture and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He is a Chartered Chemist and a Member of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute, a systems auditor, a workplace trainer and an executive coach.

Since establishing Science Partners Pty Ltd, John and his colleagues have worked with the leadership teams of top organisations in Australia and overseas to pave the way forward to best practice in HSSE governance.
